Renee Kester
Renee ‘Nayya’ Kester is a dancer, choreographer, actor and director based in Los Angeles. She was born in Long Beach, California and is of German, Polish, and Chinese descent.
She started out breakdancing at the age of 12 with the guidance of Quest Crew and was later classically trained. By age 15 Renee was dancing professionally in commercials and music videos as well as being the youngest member of Sonya Tayeh Dance company. At 18 she was scouted to be a trainee for the Washington Ballet. She then went on to dance and tour with Houston Ballet before returning to L.A. to create the viral video, “Slip” with Phillip Chbeeb. “Slip” amassed over 20 million views and led Renee to choreograph and star in several music videos, commercials (Toyota, Lenovo, Nair, and Timberland), web series “Making Moves” and dance in stage performances (VMA’s and Dancing with the Stars). She has won many choreography awards and traveled the world performing live and educating.
Renee is known for her unique movement quality and storytelling ability. She began studying acting as a young adult, training with private coaches Nikolai Guzov and Kennedy Brown. She also graduated from a 2 year Meisner program and has acted in short films and music videos. Renee began creating dance films in her youth which evolved into a great love for filmmaking. She has since directed music videos, web commercials, and narrative short films. Renee co-founded art collective and nonprofit, Playdō Community, in 2022.
